Located on the University of Michigan campus, Nichols Arboretum, "The Arb", is a 123-acre landscape featuring walking trails, gardens, natural areas, riverfront access, seasonal blooms, and one of North America's largest historic peony collections.
Free and open daily from sunrise to sunset.
Gardens
From flowering beds to specialty collections, the gardens at Nichols Arboretum show how people and plants can grow together. Take your time to explore, notice the details, and enjoy the seasons in bloom.

Displays & Natural Areas
Take a walk through the Arb’s displays and natural areas and see how plants, wildlife, and landscapes come together. Trails, meadows, and special plantings make each area a chance to notice something new.
Visitor Center
The James D. Reader Jr. Urban Environmental Education Center is a welcoming space for visitors. It offers amenities such as restrooms, information resources, and the support of a friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Reader Center is open 10:00 am - 4:00 pm April through October.

Our trail system connects all three entrances, making it easy for visitors to embark on a journey of discovery, with helpful maps available at Nichols Drive, Geddes Road, and Washington Heights entrances to guide your exploration.
